MARY KERELIUK (nee LUKIANCHUK) July 28, 1934 - June 6, 2003 After a courageous battle with cancer, Mary passed away peacefully on Friday with her family by her side. Mary will be sadly missed by husband Paul, son Glen and daughters, Gail (Jim) Formuziewich and Sue (Verne) Derraugh; and grandchildren, Curtis, Adam, Troy and Jayse. She will also be deeply missed by sisters, Nellie (Bill) Wolski, Ann Recina, Kay Stecky and their families. Mary was predeceased by sisters, Stella Krieger and Helen Bodnarchuk and brothers, Dmytro and Fred Lukianchuk. Mom was born and educated in Vita, MB. She went on to Teachers College and married Paul in 1953. They moved to Transcona in 1961 where she raised her family. After retirement, Paul and Mary relocated to Victor Wyatt House where she enjoyed her last years and made many new friends. After her first bout with cancer 20 years ago Mary joined the Cancer Mount counselling group and provided support for fellow cancer patients throughout Winnipeg. Her calm demeanour and positive outlook on life was an inspiration to all of us. She lived life to the fullest and cherished her family and friends. A special thank you to Dr. Maxwell and the oncology nurses at the Victoria General Hospital for the care of our mom over the years. Prayers will be held on Monday, June 9 at 7:00 p.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St., Winnipeg. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 10 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michaels Ukrainian Catholic Church, 400 Day St. Interment will be at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
